I feel the Fitness Industry doesn't thank the people that got them "there" enough so I want to make sure that those people who directly or indirectly influenced my practice get a sincere and special thank you.
First and foremost, my wife, Lori - she has been there for me every step of the way and can overlook my studying and geekiness to understand what I want to accomplish by helping people each and every day. Then, obviously our kids, Kai and Kalia, who I have to take time away from to make sure I stay dialed in with my practice and clientel. My parents need to get a shout out because they have put up with my sarcasm and stubborness to get to where I am today.
I would then like to thank some of my MAT and RTS family - Kim Brody, Bill Busch, Joe DeAntonis, Aaron Lakanen, Laura Lohrmann, Kokkay Mun, Shawn True, Michelle Amore, Brian Schab and Johnny Cooke. I would like to thank Greg Roskopf for developing Muscle Activation Techniques™ and Matt Bernier for making the process challenging but most enjoyable because of the impact on my career personally and professionally. Tom Purvis has revolutionized the thought process of what resistance training truly is and should be with Resistance Training Specialist® (RTS) certification that everyone in this industry should at the minimum sit through the lectures and practical application - RTS has made me a better practitioner and undoubtedly made me question what I should do with every rep, set and session. Thank you to Michelle Amore and Johnny Cooke for the use of their amazing facility, Precision Human Performance, and allowing me to finally find a home for my practice that is second to none.
I would like to thank my previous GM's I have worked under in Rob Beil, Better Bodies Fitness Center, John Sherwood, Five Seasons Country Club, Rich Novelli and Joseph Pinnell, both with Midtown Athletic Clubs. No way would I have the highest level of drive and motivation without their direction.
Last and certainly not least, MY CLIENTS, for putting up with my sarcasm, nerdiness and brutal honesty. I would not be where I am today without all of you trusting and believing in the product I offer you day in and day out. I will not forget any of you!
Clients who previously had pain:
"I feel the best I have felt in my life, when I should probably be feeling the worst. I don't trust anyone, but you made me trust you and give MAT a try. It has been a life altering experience. I can do things I have ever been able to do with minimal pain. I used to have pain standing, just laying, and walking. Simple things like bending over the sink to brush my teeth used to hurt. I never imagined or even expected to be nearly pain free. Now I have totally different expectations. My former pain of "3" is now my "8" because of my changed expectations. I just wanted to say thanks from me (and my family) because I am much happier with my new found level of pain. By the way, I have also been told I look great so thanks for that too!" - W.C.
"I was diagnosed with IT Band Syndrome 5 years ago. I have experienced chronic pain from my hip down the leg. Have tried massage, yoga, medication and was headed for Physical Therapy when I met Ryan and started MAT treatments. I am now pain free. MAT works and Ryan is superb." - J.S.
“Ryan has changed my life for the better. He is by far, the best trainer I have ever worked with. He is a consummate and knowledgeable professional. He is punctual, detailed, personable, and always has a imaginative workout plan. With the addition of his MAT certification he has successfully treated and cured my plantar fasciitis, neck and back pain. He would be an asset to any organization and if it were up to me I would hire him in an instant.” - M.A.
"MAT really is amazing stuff - I think it is where injury prevention is heading. Muscles need to be balanced and the way they work together is pretty amazing. It is hard to believe, but just getting the brain to use these muscles through MAT really works. It is easier to believe when you go to Ryan with pain and then the pain goes away so quickly." - G.P.
Clients who wanted to prevent injury/pain:
"As a physician and former athletic trainer I have seen and learned many different techniques for diagnosing injury. As an athlete myself it is rare for me to be impressed with new techniques, however Ryan Kroth did so. It was refreshing and fun to work with someone who is knowledgable and wants to share their knowledge, and MAT is fascinating in how logical it is. It not only helps with injury, but it also makes one really aware of their individual body and techniques, and truly includes the client in the process." - M.G.
"I enthusiastically recognize and endorse Ryan Kroth as a fitness director and personal trainer of the highest quality. His ability to assemble, train, and manage a quality fitness staff is without equal. Ryan is innovative and is continually learning more about fitness. He also challenges his staff to participate in continuing education. He is knowledgeable about the latest fitness equipment. Ryan would be an extraordinary addition to any Fitness Club staff." - J.M.
"I am the crazy mom of a 5 year old that decided to start playing roller derby at the age of 40, but thanks to MAT I have been able to keep my body working better than when I was playing ball in high school. For me personally, MAT has been invaluable for injury recovery. Even more amazing is learning how many muscles are working at less than optimal levels, and the muscle that you have injured may be due to a completely different group of muscles. The benefits of MAT continue to amaze me with every session that I receive. I would highly recommend MAT for anyone who is looking to continue their chosen activity for life...and start as early as possible!" - D.R.
"I began working out with Ryan in 2008. His workouts were always challenging, motivating, and fun. When Ryan left the gym I was at, I began training with another trainer, and I wasn't as happy with my results. I decided to follow Ryan to his new location, and I began training with him again. His personal training experience, knowledge about the body, and always changing workouts, made the 40 minute drive to train with him, well worth it. I am back to enjoying my workouts!" - A.F.
“Ryan knows his stuff. I've seen Ryan work and succeed with almost every different type of fitness level client. Ryan has the patience to teach the right form in every exercise and just as importantly, Ryan gives the encouragement to motivate his clients to perform at levels they didn't think possible. We will miss Ryan very much here at the club.” - E.T.
“Ryan excelled in all aspects of motivating, developing, and managing a large, well respected group of fitness professionals. His ability to develop people and programs that enhanced the revenue of his departments to the overall benefit of the business were unparalleled. His success was utilized as a model to help develop his peers at sister clubs. Ryan is a true business and fitness professional who truly enjoys his profession. I would recommend Ryan as Fitness Director or General Manager in any World Class organization.” - J.S.
“Ryan is responsible taking a floundering Fitness Department and turning it around in less than a year to be one the largest revenue generating Fitness Departments in the company. Ryan did it by building a team and managing them effectively to maximize their output. Leadership and an expert knowledge of Fitness were the keys to Ryan's success. He is the finest fitness professional that I have had the privilege of working with.” - J.P.
“Ryan impressed me from day one with his confidence and control of everything around him. He managed several departments in the Fitness Services Division and surrounded himself with solid department managers who produced and did so representing the Club brand quite effectively. Ryan is an intelligent, articulate and accomplished manager who also brings a fun energy to everything he does. It would be a privilege to work with him again.” - R.N.
“Ryan has been an inspiration to me from day one! I have never come across a Fitness Director who is dedicated to improving the fitness department and building into the lives of all the trainers. Ryan was the first person who encouraged me to look into Muscle Activation Techniques. It changed the trajectory of my career even further!! Today, I'm able to help my clients in more ways than I could ever imagined. Ryan's management skills has taken the department and the Club to a whole new level - in revenue and educational standard! He is a great asset to the Club. I am truly grateful to Ryan for his professionalism and friendship. I highly recommend Ryan Kroth!!” - K.M.
“Ryan Kroth was not only an outstanding boss, but he is a mentor to me. He introduced me to MAT (Muscle Activation Techniques) and helped me with many of my sports injuries I had been dealing with for years. Ryan and MAT helped me so much with my aches, pains and injuries that I decided to pursue a career in MAT myself. He continued to help me through my certification program and we continue to work together to push each other to become better MAT specialists. I would not be where I am today without Ryan's help." - L.L.
“I worked under Ryan as a personal trainer for 2 years at Midtown Athletic Club. And during those 2 years, Ryan helped me to significantly progress my career. As the Fitness Director, Ryan was always bringing new and innovative ideas to the club. He pushed me to continually learn new things and better myself as a trainer. While always challenging me to think outside the box and further my career, Ryan also did the same himself. While working full time as the Fitness Director, Ryan studied full time to become a Certified Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist. He led by example. I highly recommend Ryan as a Muscle Activation Techniques Certified Specialist and in any managerial role.” - S.B.
